You will not need any math more complicated than addition.

it took me only five minutes to figure out this riddle - am i to understand that i'm not smart?

It took me a few minutes, and I looked at the hint. I guess I'm dumb and lazy.
What is becoming more interesting than the test is the degree to which people that figured it out quickly are slightly concerned about their level of intelligence. One might wonder if their degree of deference to some guy from somewhere about the nature of some test is a better indicator.
:P
Fun stuff... I won't say how long it took me -- there's enough insecurity about IQ here without my help. I have a math degree though, so that's probably why I got it quickly... :P
What I DON'T get, is Darren's last comment -- what about some guy?
